Down Goes Mengin, Down Goes Mengin!
Too much drama. Christophe Mengin, a rider local to this region of France, and a local favorite was the sole survivor of a 5-man breakaway early in the day, and was holding off the peleton into the last 1 km to the finish in Nancy. He was bravely making an effort of a lifetime, and still had an outside chance to win the race of his life. But he fell on the last turn on the wet roads of Nancy. He actually caused a pile up in the chase group, and the break-away chasers right behind him took 1st and 2nd. Everyone else was given the same time because of the 1km rule.
I rode 60 minutes @ 80% MHR during this stage. Now I need to find out about the sad attacks in London.
