Tasty Food Diet

I'm on a fitness and weightloss mission, while looking for the best take-away food around.

78.6 kg

Finally, I strung together a few days of reasonable eating, and made a new low weight this morning. Also, the hours of hill climbs and sprints in spinning class didn't hurt either. As opposed to the double fast food meals on Monday night that actually did hurt.

I haven't translated the sign above, but I'm pretty sure they're talking about carnitas inside the bodega. It got my curiosity piqued, so I walked in to the store that's been next door to the Village Club, but I've never visited in 10 years. I was impressed they had fresh produce and a butcher. It's a cheaper, local version of Whole Foods. I bought 4 avocados for $2, and a bag of diced nobales (cactus) for $1.89. Next time I'll try the puerco.

Mexican food; more specifically, tacos seem to be a staple in your diet. Maybe we can find out the fat content of a regular and diet flour and corn tortilla.

I'm pretty sure fat is important to a good diet. It makes a meal satisfying, so the body probably really needs it. If I restrict the fat in my food, I'm more likely to binge later at some point. Remember a lot of people recommend the 40:30:30 (carb:protein:fat) ratio.

Anyway, you can't argue with carnitas.

You are in SUCH denial. You are right, in a way. You cannot argue with carnitas. They already have plenty of fat, as well as beef and chicken, so if you eliminated the fat wrap called a tortilla, you would still be getting your "much needed" fat.

Fat just makes you want more fat. Your body tells you its satisfied, because evolution has created a body that protects its fat stores. There is no social evolution. The body does not send you happy signals by short changing it, which is bascially what a diet is. Still, we want to look and feel good. We have to do it by overiding the body's signal to feed it fat and sugar.

Did you know that if your body is absolutely starving, it still will not kill a fat cell? It will feed off of muscle and internal organ first. That is how much the body protects its fat stores.

The body needs some fat. Because of your metabolism, your body probably needs more than the average man. On the other hand, you're not supposed to shake hands with fat, and take it out for drinks later. Were you to go longer without fat, even if you had the occasional binge, your body would burn that fat much better, because your(the average person's) metabolim would have improved.

I really think that some fat is important in our appetite regulation mechanism. I wouldn't underestimate the body's craving for fat. Sure, it's an evolved behaviour to identify the calorie and protein-rich types of food, but on the other hand, the body knows when enough is enough, provided the feedback mechanism is working. Personally, I think that McDonald's knows exactly how to short-circuit our normal appetite control mechanism. After one Big Mac, I immediately want to lie on the couch and have another one.
